Privacy and cookies
The Best in Venice has no accounts, no comments and no newsletter. We only ask for your name and email if you write to us through one of our forms. Apart from that, the only data we collect is anonymous traffic data, and only if you allow it.
The site is run by Arturo Giampieri, who is responsible for this data. For any question or request about your data, write to [email protected].
Contact forms
If you use the form on the Contact or Write for uspage, we receive your name, your email address, what you write and the page you sent it from. The message goes through Cloudflare, which hosts the site, to our mailbox, which runs on Gmail. We use these details only to reply to you and keep them only as long as the conversation needs them. We never add you to a mailing list.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides people read. It runs in Google Consent Mode: until you click Accept, no analytics cookies are stored on your device. If you accept, Google sets the _ga and_ga_<property ID> cookies, which last up to two years.
Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Advertising features and data sharing for ads are off, and visit-level data is deleted after two months. Google Ireland Limited processes the data on our behalf; its privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how readers move through the pages: heatmaps of clicks and scrolling, and anonymous recordings of visits. Clarity loads only after you click Accept. If you decline, it is never loaded. If you accept, it sets the _clck and _clsk cookies, which last up to one year and one day respectively. Text you type into forms is masked, and we never combine this data with your identity.
Microsoft Corporation processes the data on our behalf and keeps it for up to 13 months; its privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Travelpayouts
Some partner links on this site work through Travelpayouts, an affiliate network that records when a booking comes from one of our links so the partner can pay us a commission. Its script loads only after you click Accept; if you decline, it is never loaded. Travelpayouts is operated by Go Travel Un Limited; its privacy policy is at support.travelpayouts.com.
Instagram posts
Some guides show public Instagram posts using Instagram's official embed. When the page reaches a post, your browser contacts Instagram (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited), which may set its own cookies. We do not control that data; its policy is at privacycenter.instagram.com/policy.
Affiliate partners
Some links go to partners such as GetYourGuide, Booking.com, Tiqets and Trainline. A small GetYourGuide script counts views and clicks on its links. Once you land on a partner's site, its own cookie policy applies.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time with , also in the footer of every page. Clearing your browser data resets the choice too.
